This design isn’t drawn by me. It is an old
illustration from a book that the clients had a
very deep connection with. (I am sorry, but I can
not recall the book or author.)
In general I DO NOT tattoo other artist works, but there are exceptions: The artist is no longer alive and time has passed since his/hers death, the artwork is 100+ years old. Why is this? Because the copyright world recognizes that artwork does become “free for usage” after significant time has passed from the creation of the work. It is also from my point of view I do not want to dishonor an artist by doing their work (in case they wanted to tattoo that themselves), because I’ve gotten my work copied so many times even tho the design was specifically made for one particular client. This is just how I work.
But Long story short: I’ve had a lot of people ask me for Durer pieces.
YES, I would be more than
happy doing some Durer, and give credit to him as the original artist. OR make modifications of his work.
OR just in general create some woodcut/etching style tattoos from my own/clients ideas.
